What the In-Store Sales App is - removing visual uncertainty

The In-Store Sales App is Furniture Connect's solution for retail stores and showroom teams. It removes the visual uncertainty that stalls furniture sales - the moment a customer loves a piece but can't picture it in their fabric, in their room. Instead of asking them to imagine, your team shows them, in seconds, on the shop floor.

The problem it solves

Furniture is the only major purchase where customers are asked to spend £3,000–£10,000 on imagination. They can't see the sofa in their bouclé, in their living room - so they hesitate, ask for a swatch, and leave to "think about it." Most don't come back.

We call it being Swatch Blocked: the sale stops because the customer can't picture the result. A swatch shows a square of fabric. It doesn't show their sofa, in their room.

What it does instead

In a few taps, a sales associate generates a photorealistic image of the exact product - in any fabric, or placed into a photo of the customer's own room - while the conversation is still live.

  • Removes guesswork - the customer sees the finished result, not a sample to assemble in their head.

  • No sample hunting - show any fabric or finish straight from the swatch book, instantly.

  • Builds confidence - customers commit when they can see it's right for their space.

  • On the spot - generated in seconds on a phone or tablet, mid-conversation.

What we believe

We believe in a world where salespeople can give every customer the confidence that what they're buying is perfect for their living space. Three principles guide the app:

  1. Show, don't swatch. Every swatch request becomes a full-product visualisation, built from the swatch book. Retailers using the app report closing in minutes, not the weeks it takes to post samples and wait.

  2. Capture every lead digitally. A customer who leaves without buying walks out with a visual quote, not a business card - so no lead is lost to pen and paper.

  3. Finance on every quote, automatically. Monthly payment options are shown to every customer by default, without relying on each salesperson to remember - and finance can meaningfully lift average order value.

How it works

The app has two core flows:

  • Fabric Swap - show the product in different materials.

  • Room Visualizer - drop the product into the customer's own room.

See the articles below to set up and use each one.

FAQ

How is this different from showing a swatch? A swatch shows the material alone. The app shows the customer's actual product in that material - and in their room - so there's nothing left to imagine.

How long does a visualisation take? Seconds, on a phone or tablet, while you're still with the customer.

What if the customer still leaves? They leave with a visual quote that keeps selling for you at home, instead of a business card that gets forgotten.
