A dining chair needs seat height and stackability. A sofa needs seat depth, fabric composition and fire rating. Attributes let you store exactly the details your ranges and your retailers need, and families decide which products carry which ones.
Add an attribute
Open Catalog and go to Attributes.
Click New attribute.
Give it a Name and choose a Type: Short text, Long text, Number, Yes / No, Single option, Multiple options, Date, Email, URL or Product reference.
For Single option or Multiple options, enter one option per line.
Under Behavior, choose whether it's Visible, Required, and whether it varies per channel or per language.
Add a Description. The AI reads it when filling this attribute, so describe what a good value looks like.
Click Create.
Tip: Working in the product table? Choose Add attribute to view, type a name and pick Create to add a new text attribute as a column in one step.
Group attributes into families
A family decides which attributes a product has and which are required per channel for its completeness score.
Go to Catalog → Families and click New family.
Add the attributes this family uses and mark each as common to the product or set per variant.
Click Add axis to set how variants differ, for example by colorway, size or finish.
Tick the attributes each channel requires.
Good to know
Attribute groups arrange attributes into tidy sections in the product editor.
Required attributes count toward each product's completeness, so you can see at a glance what's ready to list.
Once an attribute exists, fill it across your range with AI Autofill.
